EXPERIENCE... FEEL... CONNECT ... MAKE TIME FOR YOUR SOUL
Angel of the Blue Lotus Meditations
Mindfulness and meditation have recently caught the popular imagination to counter the stress of everyday life. It is becoming a more accepted and mainstream way of life to deal with situations or feelings in our lives that can be. But what exactly is it and how can it benefit you? Mindfulness is when we learn the ability to be fully present in the moment. It can help build awareness of many aspects of everyday life with great benefits such as decreased stress and sadness to increasing one’s energy levels and focus. When learning to be mindful a practitioner of mindfulness learns to pay attention to what is happening either internally (such as a focus on our breath) or externally to say how we chew our food or by paying attention to sound. In fact researchers have developed a 15 item questionnaire called the Mindful Attention Awareness Score ( MAAS) to measure how mindful someone is. It is a great way to assess where you currently are and whether you would benefit by practicing some mindfulness techniques. Meditation on the other hand is about developing and training your awareness to a level where you can observe your thoughts and emotions without judging them. It can help you connect with a deeper, more insightful part of yourself and develop a healthier sense of perception. By combining these two methods we can create a path that moves us towards a balance between our mind, emotions, and body. There is ample research that indicates how meditation and mindfulness can positively impact:
Our stress levels
Anxiety
Depression
